Weight management

“Weight management” for me is all about the long-term lifestyle adjustments to maintain a healthy body weight on the basis of a person’s age, sex and height. It is a process that takes clear evidenced based steps.
Once learnt this process can last a lifetime.

Managing weight over our lifetime is important for overall health and wellbeing both in body and in mind. More than one in three adults is overweight. Being overweight or obese increases your risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, fatty liver disease, kidney disease, and other health issues. Because most adults between the ages of 18 and 49 gain 1-2 pounds each year, stopping and preventing weight gain is a priority globally, and for each one of us.

The key methods of weight management include eating a healthy diet and increasing physical activity levels. To many this is common knowledge.

Coaching for weight management goes far, far deeper than the key methods.

Outcomes of changes to lifestyle are of dependent on the foundations they are built from for true long-lasting success.

Life is not a straight line so that what worked in the past does not necessarily work for us now. Our physiology and circumstances change, so when something no longer works the same, we need to make a change.

My 3 month course for weight management is a coaching approach dealing with esteem and confidence, beliefs and values and is interwoven with contemporary dietary and exercise lifestyle medicine advice, accountability, learning and goal setting.
