Acupuncture for Other conditions

How does acupuncture help longstanding physical conditions?

A lot is still unknown about how the needling of meridians affect conditions such as hay fever, infertility or IBS. The amount and quality of evidence base is limited and so the choices of needles used are usually based on the thousands of years of use in the east.

Tried and tested well used formulae or combinations of needle sites that work well for such conditions are used. The training I received by BAWMA is derived directly from eastern practice.

It is believed in the west that the needles affect the levels of key mediators residing in the nervous system, improve local blood flow and affect the central and peripheral nervous systems chemicals such and the endorphins, dopamine and serotonin.

Often if you have a longstanding condition you may have associated challenges like poor sleep or anxiety that acupuncture can also address.

General Lifestyle advice is also very important in these conditions and they respond well to an integrative approach.
